Ocean exploring from space

I have noticed using google maps that only a small bit of sea surface is photographed and included on the website. And these bits are the sea bits near the shore and near islands.
I have also noticed that on a few instances, the sea bed is quite transparent and easily viewable when the sea is calm and the sun is shining of course. (I do not know if the sun must shine from a specific angle for the seabed to be visible.) For example here.

So an interesting project would be to photo the oceans under the correct sun position and be able to look at the seabed.
